Hi everyone and happy December to you. One of the busiest times of the year for sure, but also a rewarding fun and cherished time of year. I want you to take a breather, grab a cuppa or a cool drink (if you’re in my neck of the woods) and join me on another Story Scrapbook challenge. This month I’m challenging you to tell the story of Christmas past, present or future.
Document a time gone by, perhaps a memory of your own Christmas as a child, or a Christmas from when our own quickly growing children were young, perhaps our first Christmas as a couple, the first Christmas meal you cooked and hosted (I remember a story my mum told me when as a newly wed she was hosting her in-laws for the first time over Christmas and she dropped the cooked Christmas turkey and her mum quickly picked it up, brushed it off and put it back on the serving plate so her in-laws wouldn’t know!!).
You might like to document the here and now, how you in 2013 will be celebrating Christmas, what are the traditions that are so very important to you that carry through each year.
Or perhaps the Christmas future, what are your wishes for your children, and their children. A ponder as to what Christmas might be like in the future.
Tie it in to your December Daily if you like. Lots of jumping off points for you to take part in telling a story of Christmas past, present or future.
Mollie (readstoomuch) and Debi (beehive50) joined me with this challenge and documented some beautiful Christmas stories.
Mollie tells a story of Christmas Past and has been documenting Christmas Cards from years gone by for her Christmas Card book. What a treasure, seeing the cards over the last 48 years, a life in history. This is story telling at its finest.
Supplies used by Mollie: Annino Solids Paper Pack (Maplebrook Studios). Candy Striped Frames: 3 x 5, Vintage Blendables: Christmas No. 01, Vintage Photo Frames No. 23 (Katie Pertiet). Painted Christmas Words (Ali Edwards). Worn edges, Worn Photo Edges No. 05 (Lynn Grieveson).
Debi has documented a transition of tradition from the family home to her daughter Shannon’s dorm room. This page is extra fun being that it’s been done in soft non-traditional Christmas colours.
Supplies used by Debi: Minted Wings Solids Paper Pack, Jingle Element Pack, Around Words: December No. 2, Scribbling Brushes and Stamps No. 02, Thin Classic Photo Frames Curled and Flat No. 01, Elastic Strung Tags No. 01, December Woods Element Pack (Katie Pertiet). Star of Wonder Brushes and Stamps (Ali Edwards).
And for my page I wanted to document our Christmas present and how we like to spend it right here, right now. How we like to hide away in our little town here, just the two of us, and enjoy Christmas to the max.
Supplies used by Carol: Jingle Paper Pack, Jingle Add-On Paper Pack, December Essentials No. 01: The Stamps, Light Strings No. 02: Multicolored, Assorted Messy Stitches: White No. 04, Blitzen Kit, Striping Graphic Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Stitched Journal Strips No. 03, Flair Minis No. 01, Defined Discs: Holiday No. 02, Splatters Brushes and Stamps No. 03, Filmed Photo Masks Brushes and Stamps No. 05, Clean Stitched Borders: White No. 01 (Katie Pertiet).
