Simply Done Scrapbooking Challenge: White Space

Happy Quarterly Sale Everyone! It’s Beckie (mungerre) here, and I have the pleasure of hosting the Simply Done Scrapbooking challenge, focusing on White Space. There is a freebie sampler that comes with this challenge, so keep reading to find out the details!

White space is the portion of your page left unembellished, but it is more than just blank space. White space allows you to infuse your design with a touch of class and elegance. It can allow you to get creative with type while still allowing the page to be easy to read an uncluttered. And remember that white space doesn’t need to be white! I hope you enjoy the inspiration pages by the a few of the Creative Team.

Kelly (mugsbigsis) spotlighted her lovely bracelet in her page. I love how the color and activity in the photo catches your eye, the subtle detail of her brushwork and the creative title work. Kelly used items from Looking for Love Solids, Maybe Tomorrow Kit, Counting Trash Alpha No. 2, Frosted Winter Kit, Striping Masks Brushes and Masks No. 02,  Catana Kit, Art Class Frames No. 03 and Poppies Kit to create this fabulous page.

Next up, LeAnne (digishoes) highlighted a keepsake worthy photo. I love all of the layering behind the frame to ground her photo, and the fabulous texture of her background paper. LeAnne created this show-stopper with Art Class Frames No. 03, Assorted Messy Stitches: Black No. 01, Duncan Word Strips, Far Away Fairyland Solids Paper Pack, Far Away Fairyland Kit, Go Fish Kit, Hugs and Kisses Page Titles Mega Pack, Littlest Ballerina Kit, Messy Stitched Circles: White No. 01, Lifted Paper Flowers No. 01, Poppies Kit, Vintage Page Strips No. 01, Wooden Arrows No. 01, Yesteryear Add-On Lace, Loosely Labeled Dates, Striping Graphics No. 02, Duncan Paper Pack and the Frosted Winter Kit.

For my page, I started with a photo that was a bit blurry as my son moved when my daughter blew out her birthday candle and drew the camera’s focus. A bit of sharpening in photoshop let me save the photo, but I needed to keep it small so the editing wasn’t obvious. The white space challenge seemed to be a perfect match for my situation!  I used Lady Bug Summer Kit, Poppies Kit, Looking for Love Kit, Art Class Frames No. 03, Frosted Winter Kit, Measured Photo Masks No 01, Pencil Line Twists No 01 and Looking for Love Add On Papers to complete my page.
