Shades of Gray: A Digital Scrapbooking Color Challenge

The color gray, many shades of gray, is IN. We just sold our house this past weekend. As we were getting ready to put it on the market, all of the Real Estate professionals urged us to paint everything gray…shades of gray. (We have several, though not all 50 shades, in our now sold home. ;) ) I thought using shades of gray as a backdrop for a pop of a single, bright accent color of your choice could make a really fun Color Challenge this week, but WOW,  I was totally blown away by the pages our CT created as examples! After seeing these beauties, I’m sure that many of you will want to join in and create your own ‘shades of gray’ page. Use Designer Digitals supplies and upload it to our Color Challenge Gallery, so that we can all be inspired!

Gray Merr

Merr’s beautiful photograph and the delicate bright pink bleeding heart flower are just gorgeous against the soft gray chevron background paper. I just love the little enamel heart charm here! Merr’s supply list includes: Maybe Not Kit, Just Tonals Paper Pack No. 11, Touch Up Paint Brushes and Stamps No. 8,  Messy Stitched Borders: White No. 1, Blue Bird Little Enamel Charms, Love Twists Brushes and Stamps No. 2, Clear Buttons, Star Glows Brushes and Stamps, and Messed Up Photo Blocks Brushes and Stamps No. 10

Gray Sam

Does this page take your breath away or what? As Sam herself pointed out, the neutral coloring really allows the textures to stand out in this gorgeous photo. This is our own Sam and her lucky hubby Ian on their wedding day. What an elegant and fun shot of them, and don’t forget to take note of their rather tiny and adorable chauffeur! In creating her page, Sam used Love Twists Brushes and Stamps No. 1, Blue Bird Add On Paper Pack, and Fine Line Border Lines Brushes and Stamps No. 11.

Gray Steph

Steph’s page left me in tears–tears of joy–literally! Her daughter recently celebrated a special anniversary, and the muted background and photo here allowed her poignant journaling to really shine. She documented this milestone using Life Lines Add On Paper Pack, Life Lines Solids Paper Pack, Pattern Mix: Neutrals Paper Pack No. 1, Maybe Not Element Pack, Felt Board Friends: Happy Haunting, and Hey Missy Element Pack.

I look forward to seeing what shades of gray inspires in all of you!
