Good morning everyone! Do you love to layer? Or do you find it all a bit tricky? What do you like best about the layering in these two templates?
I’m hoping that mixing these two templates will either give you a chance to layer to your heart’s content OR will give you the support to have a go if it’s not usually your thing! Mashing up these templates gives you the layering expertise of both Katie and Kayleigh as well as some gorgeous extra elements to play with!
One of the things I love about taking a close look at Katie’s templates and her placement of brushes/stamps, photos, paper pieces and journaling spots is that you get to learn so much about good design principles. And who doesn’t learn something about gorgeous clustering when using one of the StudioDD templates designed by Kayleigh?!
Mollie(Readstoomuch), Brenda(bbe) and I have gotten a head start on you all and I hope you will be inspired by our efforts to have a go as well.
Mollie has created this delightful heritage page. I love the way she has used the coin holder to highlight that sweet baby face from long ago. Mollie has been quite the purist here and has only used background paper from the Krafty Lace Paper Pack No. 01 in addition to the templates!
Brenda also scrapped some gorgeously ‘aged’ photos and used a photo frame from both templates to accommodate her chosen photos. Did you notice that she has cleverly used just part of the Title from the StudioDD template? In addition to the templates, Brenda also used: Fresh Vintage: Asha Solids, Vintage Ephemera Strips No. 03, Bessette Solids andFresh Vintage: Clare Elements
I used a current photo and played around with the elements to make them “match” the colours in my photo. I love that when you use the Designer Digital templates, the different layers are labelled with the original kits or packs that papers and elements come from. This makes it easy to make substitutions if you feel the need to. For example, I swapped out the green beads that Kayleigh had used in the template for some blue ones from the same kit. In addition to the two templates, I also used: Wood Veneer Words No. 07, the Black, White and Maroon Kit, the Black, White and Turquoise Kit, Brierley Elements, Summer Gardens Elements and some Botanicals Clipart No. 01.
I hope you can join us in this first challenge for SEPTEMBER (how did that happen!?!?!?). If you don’t have these templates yet – don’t despair – they will be in our Thrifty Thursday Sale this week! Please post your pages in the Template Gallery and don’t forget to add your all DD product page to the September Challenge Participation thread to earn rewards this month.
Happy scrapping everyone!
