Saturday Scraplift: What Catches Your Eye?

There are many elements that attract me to pages in the gallery: a well-designed layout, great use of color, good photography – I could go on and on. Sarah’s (sterkeurs) page has all those ingredients and more. Living in Florida where we don’t see much change of season, I always have a hard time resisting beautiful fall designs. Sylvia and Kate, two of my Creative Team friends, joined me in lifting Sarah’s beautiful page.

Sarah’s page:

Sylvia (smcloone) adopted several elements from Sarah’s design to hold on to the last remnants of summer. (Sylvia, if you move to Florida, you’ll “enjoy” summer practically year-round!) I love Sylvia’s use of subtle color to make that lovely rose pop on her page, and her repetition of rose brush work underscores her subject matter.

Kate (OKate) was inspired to create her own fall page after studying Sarah’s design. I love the use of the blendable palette and faint brush work behind those layered frames filled with colorful leaves. She anchored her layout with ribbon, greenery, and additional layers, and I just want to reach out and touch that textured background paper.

When I saw Sarah’s page, I was reminded of the photos I took last fall when we enjoyed a little mountain getaway in North Carolina. Over the course of the few days we were there, I was amazed at the increasing color in the trees which made me very happy. I tried to simulate those falling leaves on my page with brush work and a mix of individual leaves.

Whether or not the leaves are changing where you live, I think you’ll find plenty of inspiration in Sarah’s design. Remember to post your lift in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery as well as in the September Challenges Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Happy scrapping and happy fall, y’all!
