Saturday Scraplift: Rock the Design

I love it when a great design draws my eye to a page in the gallery, and that’s exactly what happened when I saw Liz Jutila’s page about her granddaughter’s new school backpack. The text overlay and patterned paper give boundaries to the page, and her journaling spot is so eye-catching. Guest CT member Kate and my fellow team member Lynn were eager to join me in lifting Liz’s page. Here’s our inspiration:

Kate’s (OKate) choice of a neutral background really makes her colorful photo pop, and I adore what she did with the journaling spot in cutting out the T for thoughtful. Her journaling weaves around the initial just as Liz’s does.

Lynn (grandma lynnie) documented a fun activity that occurred during her vacation. Her color choices are spot on, and she’s done a masterful job of mixing her patterned papers. I love how she’s balanced the large photo with a large title, both nestled next to her journaling.

Lately I’ve been scrapping pictures from our beach vacation two years ago – I know, I’m behind. And Liz’s design worked perfectly for a shot my daughter-in-law captured of the munchkins from behind – one of my favorite types of photos. It gave me a chance to reflect on their futures.

There’s a lot to love in Liz’s terrific design, and I know it will inspire you. Remember to post your lift in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery and in the August Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Happy scrapping!
