Saturday Scraplift: Layering It Up

The gallery here at Designer Digitals is aglow with beautiful December Daily pages from our talented community members, and I have been thoroughly enjoying them. It’s so much fun to see the variety of ideas for documenting the Christmas season. I have been particularly drawn to Pam’s (bawzie) pages. I love her color scheme, photos, and embellishments; and on the page I selected for this week’s Saturday Scraplift, the layering is awesome. I’m not a “layerer” by nature, so it really helps me to have a model to follow. Creative Team members Wendy and Nancy also lifted Pam’s page and produced some beautiful examples.

December_Daily_Day_six1Wendy (wendymck) used a new Layer Works template for her lift – a stroke of genius – for a picture of her son and his girlfriend celebrating a birthday. I really like the brushwork that she added to draw the eye across her page. Well done, Wendy!

Nancy (Nancy Beck) created a lift that just sparkles with holiday magic, an appropriate title if ever there were one. The snowflakes are definitely unifying elements, and I love how Nancy layered with embellishments and brushwork as opposed to pieces of paper.

I liked Pam’s page so much that I did a fairly literal lift of it, using photos taken at the mall when my grandchildren visited with Santa. The mall photographer got so many cute photos that I couldn’t resist blending in a second one at the bottom.

Whether you have a master’s degree in layering or you’re a novice as I am, I know you’ll find Pam’s page full of inspiration. I’m looking forward to seeing what you create; post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery. Merry Christmas and happy scrapping!
