You just can’t go wrong with a color scheme of red, white, and blue. It’s great for Fourth of July pages as well as nautical layouts like Jana Holden’s (jlholden15) Lighthouses by the Sea. I was drawn to Jana’s page by the strong blue background and by the tightly clustered photos in the center. She did a wonderful job grounding her photos with a mat and brushwork and completed the design with perfectly chosen embellishments. Here’s how the Creative Team interpreted Jana’s page:
Amy (mymalloryboys) lifted Jana’s color combination for a fun Fourth of July page focusing on her three handsome sons. In her trademark style, Amy has tucked lots of season-appropriate goodies around her photos to extend the holiday theme.

Joanne (jcaruth910) also created a page about her sons – her grown up, golf-playing sons. I love the sophisticated color scheme she chose and that detail shot of her son’s cap and sunglasses. Her brushwork and layers provide the perfect background for her design.

My page is boy-centered, too – my grandson celebrating his seventh birthday last year. I lifted Jana’s multiple mats, a technique that really appeals to me. And I used a solid blue background, the color drawn from Sam’s giant birthday cookie.

Jana’s page is a gold mine of ideas for scrapping several photos on a single page. I’m anxious to see the page it inspires you to create. Post your lift in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery so we can leave you some love.
