Saturday Scraplift: Clustering Photos on a Band

I’m always looking for clever, artistic ways to get several photos on one page, and that’s exactly what drew me to Dawnee’s (Dawneephay) super page. I really like how she clustered the sports photos of her granddaughter on a band down the side of her layout. And drawing the colors from the photos is a never-fail design technique that makes for a well put together page. Here’s how the Creative Team used Dawnee’s page for inspiration.

Pam’s (blkcow) ranch in Montana experienced an early season snow that provided the subject matter for her page. I love the icy blue she chose for the background paper – perfect for those pictures of the stunned antelope. To ground her photos, Pam used two worn strips and a series of acrylic chevrons. And that whimsical title is just right!

Janet (JALong) put her colorful signature style on her lift of Dawnee’s page by using squares of patterned paper as a platform for the cute picture of four of her daughters. I really like the mix of stamped letters and Ali’s wordart and the way Janet turned the title on its side. Note how the visual triangle of circular elements guides the viewer’s eye around her layout.

I rotated the orientation of the band on my layout to suit my mostly landscape photos from Mother’s Day 2012. And then to impart a little more energy to the page, I angled the band and photos. That was a big step for this primarily linear scrapper.
