Saturday Scraplift: Clustering and Layering

As digital scrappers, we really do have the best of both worlds. We get to preserve our families’ memories AND play with the coolest products on the planet at the same time. Sharon’s (sharongrey8) page is a great example of that happy combination. I love her color choices, the cluster of cute photos, the page-within-a-page look, and the elements she layered under her photos to ground them. Here’s how the Creative Team members used Sharon’s page for inspiration:

First_Steps_-_web[1] Kim (KimR+) used only one photo, but it tells her story of Sunday night chats with her husband so beautifully. She created the page-within-a-page look and then went to town layering perfectly chosen elements behind and around her photo. Her expert shadowing gives great dimension to her page, and I really like that dramatic black and white striped paper she used for her background.

Bailey (starlite9711) scrapped a terrific trio of photos of her daughter dissecting a squid. The expressions on her face are priceless, and I love the colors Bailey chose. The watery brushwork in the background is perfect for her subject matter, and the collaged stack grounds her design in addition to providing a place for her journaling and part of her title. Well done, Bailey!

While I loved the colors in Sharon’s layout, they didn’t work with the pictures my daughter-in-law took of my granddaughter at her riding lessons, so I embraced the pink and purple – it’s a tough job but somebody has to do it! Katie’s Watery Pencil Line Wings and Artsy Layered Blends allowed me to customize my brushwork with the colors in the cool background paper from the Summer Gardens Add-on Paper Pack.

Sharon’s page is chock full of inspiring elements; I’m eager to see which ones show up on your page. Remember to post your lift in both the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery and in the February Challenge Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Cluster and layer to your heart’s content, ladies!
