Saturday Scraplift Challenge: A Home for Your Pictures

Despite the fact that the calendar says September and football season is in full swing, here in Florida we’re still experiencing dang hot weather, so it was no surprise that Julie’s (MaggieMae) refreshing water page caught my eye immediately. I love how she created a home for her terrific pictures by clustering them on the mat which also provided a space for her title and journaling. And the watery brushwork is the perfect finishing touch to her page. The Creative Team took inspiration from Julie’s page to produce these beauties:

LeAnne (digishoes) chose Katie’s great new burlap paper to showcase the cluster of photos of her daughter at riding lessons. (I’m tucking this idea away for the million shots I have of my grandchildren riding!) She sectioned her page with a leather cord – perfect! – and used metal accents in keeping with her theme. I also adore LeAnne’s photo treatments.

Kathie (kathie02) brought her signature graphic style to the lift and used photos of street musicians from a recent trip to Seattle. The dark tone-on-tone background allows Kathie’s pictures to pop, and the diagonal arrangement draws the eye across her page. I love her subtle use of the music patterned paper behind the photos and blended into the background.

My granddaughter got her ears pierced last weekend, so I took the opportunity to record the milestone on my page. I drew the colors of my layout from Katie’s shirt and added metal embellishments as a subtle nod to her new earrings. She loves sparkle so the twinkly flare spray brushes helped to ground the design.

No matter what subject you’re scrapping, I think you’ll find Julie’s design full of inspiration for your own page. Remember that we have a new rewards system for challenges, so you’ll want to post your page in both the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery and the September Challenge Participation Sign-in. I’m looking forward to seeing your page!
