Saturday Scraplift Challenge: Clustered

Good morning everyone! There’s so much happening at Designer Digitals today! The first quarter sale is underway … YAY! So don’t forget to check those goodies on your wish list and get them into your cart! The Whimsical Chat is taking place throughout the day (10:00am – 6:00pm EST) and there’s a freebie to be had so don’t miss out on that! And if all that is not enough to get the creative mojo going, there’s something to get your heart racing… a 30 Minute Masterpiece challenge at 11:00 EST and I believe there’s also a game or two throughout the day with prizes up for grabs! So keep an eye on the Contests and Events Forum for all the goings on!

But before you head off to check out all the goings on, let me introduce you to this week’s Saturday Scraplift Challenge. This week we’re lifting this sweet page by Trace (tracermajic). Trace is constantly coming up with new page designs and I love the cluster of fun photo’s on this one. The angled patterned papers and the border work to the right add so much interest and I like how the flairs and the label up top create a visual triangle.

Now meet Buster by Sara (sarahorton). Hey Buster! You’re cute! Sara was inspired by the angled patterned paper and, like Trace, she used a selection of frames for Buster’s photo’s and added a little whimsy to her page with the doodled frame and cute little epoxy bottom right. The printed twill strip draws the eye to the focal point of the page and I like the stitching that Sara added to the right.

I’m a little patterned-paper-challenged so I love an opportunity to use some on a page design that I feel ‘works’ for me. OK, so my choices are a little conservative but it’s a start, right?! For my lift, I switched things about a bit, rotating the page to the right and settling my journaling to the bottom, journaling that tells the story of Charlie Bear’s happy chocolate dance. Taking inspiration from Trace’s page, I used the little black label strips and flairs to add interest.
