Symmetry appeals to me. Maybe it’s the evenness; maybe it’s the order; maybe it’s just OCD. Whatever the reason, I was immediately drawn to Guest Creative Team Member Mirjam’s (Mielz) lovely design in which she centered her great photo, grounded it with brushwork and elements, and balanced it with a bottom border of tickets. Two of my teammates and I enjoyed using Mirjam’s page for inspiration. Here’s where the inspiration led us.
Deborrah (DivaMom96) highlighted a great photo of her and a group of friends out for dinner with a side order of Emeril. I love how she moved the border to just beneath her picture where it serves as a shelf for her design. It provides a home for her title as well as leaving space beneath for journaling to tell the story of the evening.

We all know what an awesome photographer Esther (esther_a) is, and her page treats us to one of those photos. What genius to extract just the top edge of that cool looking toadstool, and the pops of orange in her design are so eye-catching. Esther used multiple brushes to create a lovely border at the bottom of her page as well as to ground her photo.
My page features nature, too – one of the blooms on our gardenia bush. I liked Mirjam’s page so much that I lifted it pretty directly, using earth tones to support the subject of my photo. I added some wooden elements which seemed in keeping with the tone of the page.

Whether you’re a symmetrical or asymmetrical scrapper, I think you’ll find lots of inspiration in Mirjam’s design, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you create. Remember to post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery as well as in the May Challenge Participation Sign-in thread in the forum. Happy Memorial Day and happy scrapping!
