Saturday Scraplift: Breaking the grid

Good day! It’s time for another Saturday Scraplift. This week, we are lifting the incomparable Melanie (britgirl) and I am so excited! Not only is she one of my favorite people in the world, but she also has a great style and I think it’s time we played around with one of her pages. So, here’s the page we are lifting this week.

spotofschoolingwebI love Puzzle. How could you not love this gorgeous animal? And I love how Mel broke the grid of the page with her vintage layers. This reminds me of a little girl’s bulletin board ya know? I think we all need to break the grid a bit every now and then, so here’s what our team came up with this week.

welcome_familyMollie (readstoomuch) made this gorgeous page of her sweet grandchild. Not only did she break the grid with her photos, but she also used the baby overlays and even extracted a baby foot to continue to cross the lines of the photos. I love all the soft touches.

Our next participant went way out of her comfort zone as she LOVES her grid. 🙂 Debi (beehive50) designed this awesome page from the inspiration. She layered her photos, angled one, and used a crazy frame to break the grid and still kept true to her clean graphic style. I think Debi is amazing in that she can really be inspired by anything and yet still hold true to who she is as an artist.

And finally, here’s my (wendymck) lift of Mel’s page. My family and I just returned from a trip to the east coast and I knew as soon as I picked this page that I would be featuring the signs and lights of Broadway. They just seemed to fit with this design. I used layers and chose 1 color elements like Mel to highlight some of the play posters and marquee’s that we saw.
