Saturday Scraplift: Adding Interest

One thing I love about scrapbooking is the variety of styles present in the art. No matter what your personal taste, there’s always a way to incorporate it in a page, especially if you’re scrapbooking a lovely page like Carol Ann’s about her son and a muddy truck. I was drawn to her page by the great colors and the way she drew the viewer’s eye with the edge treatments and patterned paper banners. The Creative Team had fun lifting Carol Ann’s layout for their own pictures.

Lynn (grandma lynnie) scrapped this delightful winter shot of her grandson with a non-traditional red that picks up the color of his mittens perfectly. And I love the repetition of the circular accents in the doilies, snowflakes and epoxy buttons.

I have to say I’m a little envious of the snow photos that both Lynn and Jana used for their pages. Of course, they’re probably envious of my 70-degree weather in January, too. Maybe a week-long house swap is in order!

Jana’s (Jana Morton) pretty page is just bursting with the energy of those cute little girls in the picture. The lines of bright pink draw the eye down through Jana’s page, and the pops of aqua and green are the perfect complement.

I didn’t have snow pictures to scrap, but I chose the next best thing: a new baby. This little munchkin joined our family just after Christmas, and you can see how proud my brother is of his new granddaughter. I used the banners in two directions to call attention to him and to the cutie in his arms.

With so much inspiration in Carol Ann’s page, I know the lifts are going to be spectacular. Post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery. What a great way to begin the new year!
