It seems that in March, everyone is Irish–and we’ll be taking some inspiration from the Emerald Isle for a new Color Challenge today.
Pantone has named Emerald Green as the 2013 Color of the Year. Yes, green is ‘trending,’ as they say! The boards on Pinterest are full of shades of Emerald in fashion and interior design. I love how the deep greens in the pillows and draperies accent the neutral background of the sofa, walls, and flooring in this inspiration photo:
Whether you are or are not of Irish ethnicity, I hope you’ll join in the fun of creating a scrapbook layout that features the bold, rich green hues that we associate with the Irish. After you’ve designed your page featuring green as a prominent color, upload it to our Color Challenge gallery to share the inspiration! Several members of our talented Creative Team have taken on the challenge already, and their pages are sure to get your ideas flowing, too.

Mollie’s now adult son was born on St. Patrick’s Day! She made this page to document his 5th birthday, now many years ago. As the mom of adult daughters, I can tell you that seeing this page and it’s vintage (yes, the 1970’s now qualify as ‘vintage…’) photo brought a tear to my eye. I especially love her journaling here, as she records for Mark the special details of this long ago celebration. The green in the brushwork and embellishments draws attention to the fun party details described in that paragraph.
Mollie used these DD supplies: Cut Ups: Birthday, Drive Layered Template, Graphed Notebook December Paper Pack, Looking for Love Add-On Paper Pack, Shimmer Me Tidbits: Shamrocks, Shimmer Me Tidbits: Splattered, Shimmer Me Tidbits: Splattered No. 02, You’re Invited Collection Brushes and Stamps, U.S. Capitols Brushes and Stamps.
Sara has a genuine Irish heritage to celebrate, and she does it beautifully with this layout! She was able to discover a fascinating family history and record it on this page featuring those lush greens that we all associate with Ireland.
Sara’s credits for this layout include: ChelseaRae Complete Collection, Destination Ireland Paper Pack, Stamped and Framed Layered Template No. 16.
I’m looking forward to seeing the bit o green that you all come up with!
