Heritage Holidays

Probably more photographs are taken at holiday events in December than for any other holiday. At least in my family, it was the one time when we never forgot to have a camera handy. How about taking time out from what you’re currently scrapping to create a special page about a photo from your Christmas Past. Your photo can be from the more recent past, like of your children when they were younger or a photo from your own childhood or you can go way back and scrap a photo from your parents or grandparents generation for this challenge. There’s a generous freebie from Katie, too! Look for my thread in the General Forum for the link. A random winner will be awarded a $5.00 Gift Certificate to the Designer Digitals store. To be eligible, use the freebies on your layout plus any other Designer Digital designs and post in the Heritage Gallery by Thursday, December 6th.

Your free designs will be items from these 3 kits by Katie Pertiet that I thought would work well for our theme.

Layout by Nancy

Heritage-Challenge_-Reaching-New-MilestonesThis vision of loveliness features a photo of Nancy when she was just 11 months old. Her artistry amazes me!
The starting point of Nancy’s page is Blendables Layered Template No. 10. She added designs from Christmas Village Kit, Santa Land Kit, Yuletide Clusters Brushes and Stamps, by Katie Pertiet, Strung a Long Festive Tags by Lynn Grieveson and Warm Woolen Alphabets by Pattie Knox.

Layout by Joanne

Christmas_1959_upload_thumbJoanne found a darling photo of herself with her little brother in their Christmas pajamas. She combined the older photo with a gorgeous photograph showing the bokeh of lights on her Christmas tree. Her additional designs include Vintage Blendables: Christmas, Hey There Christmas Pack, Boxed Photo Frames No. 02 and Page Blends No. 03. My photos date back to the late 60’s. We always spent Christmas morning with my husband’s family and in this photo he is singing with his parents and his two sisters. A stocking was added to the mantel that year for our first born son.

heritagechallenge2700_thumbIn the addition to the three featured kits I added Hanging by a Thread No. 04 and Clipped Stacks No. 04 and Woodside Jangle Paper Pack.

Be sure to upload your layouts for this challenge to the Heritage Gallery to be included in the random drawing for the $5.00 gift certificate. I hope you find it a rewarding activity to go through old photos and bring them to life on scrapbook pages.
