Getting Artsy: Using text

We are back with another artsy challenge, I know you are going to love it! We all have this desire to create works of art, that’s partially why we scrapbook. I just love seeing my page spring to life with the things I place on it.

This time around I would like to challenge you to use the following items on your page:
- a mask
- buttons
- stitching
- text
I really love the addition of some text, it’s perfect to ground a photo to the background. Katie was kind enough to create a beautiful freebie for us. You can grab it here:

Look at the darling page Jana created for us
MiaQuinn1WEB
She used Katie’s Sweet Rose Bay Kit, Sweet Rose Bay Clusters, Polar Mountain Solids, Gotta Love Brushes #4, Little Shores Kit, Loosely Labeled Dates #4, Fine Lines Border Lines #4, Scribbling Brushes and stamps #1, Twisted Stitches, Page Blends #3, Dictionary Blendables: Love #1.
I am sure you will agree with me that her blending is simply amazing, her text just flows right into the blended image.

Sharon came up with this stunner of a page:

K.Pertiet: Hidden Meadow Solids PP, Basic Tags #3, Woodside Jangle Elements, Watery Spots #2, Watery Spots #4, Cutting Files: Fused Words #1, Notebook Edge Photo Masks #9. MBS: Sonata PP. The stitching and text are from the freebie pack.
What an amazing title placement, your eyes can’t help but follow it across the page. I love how she used the text brush underneath her brushes, to anchor it all together.

For my page I used an old photo of Gabrielle that I ran across the other day. I can’t believe she was ever that small :)

I used K. Pertiet’s vintage blendables Irish (coming soon), Terra Botanica Kit(coming soon), star glows #1, messed up photo blocks #7, dictionary blendables beach, assorted messy stitches white #6, botanist #5, oversprayed hearts, wearing of the green, little hearts epoxy, messy stitched circles white #1. Some of these goodies can be found in the freebie pack.

I decided to tilt the frame slightly and the glow to me always gives a page an artsy look. Just as the other ladies, I used my text to ground the photo to the background and I added some more brushwork as an extension.

I hope these examples will inspire you to use your own artistic talents, using those required items to create a masterpiece; but most of all have fun!

Please post your finished pages using all Designer Digitals supplies in the Getting Artsy challenge gallery by Sunday, March 10th 12PM Noon to be eligible to be the random winner of a 5$ Gift Certificate to the store
