Digital Scrapbooking Kit Spotlight

Hello everyone! I hope you are excited for the weekend as much as I am. After a busy few weeks filled with birthdays, a family reunion, college graduation party, kindergarten graduation, the end of the school year and the start of summer baseball, I’m looking forward to making a few relaxing-everyday-type memories (and hopefully sparing some time to scrap a few of those events!) Whether you have a weekend schedule packed to the brim with friends and family, are planning for a couple of days with no plans or somewhere in between, I would like to spotlight a selection of the Creative Team’s favorite kits for you.

I use kits to support the story I’m sharing on my pages as the designers have done the heavy lifting for me in creating papers and accessories in complimentary colors and styles. Once I find a kit that “speaks” to me and my story, it can seem that the page creates itself! And paper or elements from the kit can be used over and over again in different ways to help tell new stories with new themes.

As my kids are wrapping up the school year this week and I’m trying to document as much as I can while it is still fresh in their minds, my scrapping thoughts have been very school-themed. Ali Edward’s Prep School Mini Kit is a go-to source for school themed papers and word art to make scrapping a class photo, an end of the year reflection or a learning milestone. The primary colors in the paper pack can extend far beyond the school year. Can’t you imagine how great the red and blue papers would look on a 4th of July or picnic page?

With school ending summer beginning, we are already starting to think about talking walks, spending more time outdoors and even summer camp. Katie’s Hidden Meadows Complete Collection is a great choice for outdoorsy pages with earthy colors, beautifully textured paper and a good dose of whimsy to add fun to your page. One of my favorite elements from this kit that I have used on my non-outdoors photos are the chipboard stars. The neutral colors work well as elements for boys and girls.

And, while it is nice to have elements that work for both boys and girls – sometimes you just need a page that embraces pink for the fabulous color that it is. When I think pink, I think of the Looking for Love Collection. This kit celebrates pinks and reds with just a touch of vintage. It is perfect for girly pages as well as for pages about those we love. My favorite elements from this kit are the red epoxy arrows – perfect for bringing a pop of color and highlighting something important on any page – not just the pink ones!

And what better kit to follow up all of that pink than Lynn’s Aeronaut kit – a retro kit in refreshing blues and oranges for scrapping your adventures or the adventures of the little ones in your life. This kit has star epoxies that work well on all sorts of pages, and the star paper is one of my favorites.  Not only do I love it as an accent or background paper, but it looks great attached to a brush and blended into a neutral background.

Aeronaut KitA spunky favorite is the Hey Missy Kit – full of florals and perfect to help create a bright and cheery page. There is tons to love with journal strips, fun background papers and, hey, who doesn’t need a crown in their supplies? But – my absolute favorite from this collection is the Hey Missy Paint.  These layered paint clusters add a pop of color and interest under a photo or around the edge of the page.

Hey MissyTransitioning over to the softer side of things, the Spring Fields Kit celebrates happiness and nature in a softer way. Don’t you just love the crocheted butterflies? The paper doilies are another item that can be used both in pages ranging from vintage to modern to add layers and depth to the page.

I hope these kits have inspired you to record a few more memories, and also to think about how to use the bits and pieces of these kits and others over and over again in different ways. Have a great weekend and happy scrapping!
