Christmas in July, Non-traditional Style: A Digital Scrapping Color Challenge

Here at Designer Digitals, we’ve been celebrating Christmas in July. Since that’s a decidedly non-traditional idea, I decided to make our Christmas in July Color Challenge a bit non-traditional as well! I love the more standard Christmas red and green. It makes me happy to see those colors in Christmas decorations, wrapping and tablescapes. But there are a lot of really beautiful non-traditional color schemes that can create decidedly beautiful and decidedly Christmas-y pages! Depending on your photos, moving away from traditional colors to something non-traditional could really work better, and open up a bevvy of possibilities to give you the look you want. I found these gorgeous ideas on the Design-Seeds website, always a great source for beautiful color:

Our CT found inspiration in these photos as well, and created some really fun, really beautiful, and really touching Christmas holiday pages without more than a speck of traditional red and Christmas green.

Non traditional Carol

Carol has been inspiring all of us lately with her new active lifestyle. She makes me want to run up a mountain, and that takes….something quite akin to a miracle! Her joy in this non-traditional Christmas Day activity and the non-traditional page she made about it…just make me smile! Carol’s supplies include: Clear Thru Arrows No.1, Tidewater Solids Paper Pack, Bold and Scripted Brushes and Stamps No. 5, Thin Classic Photo Frames Curled and Flat No. 1, Americana Sprinkled Clusters, Astro Bead Scatterings, Astro: Little Enamel Charms, Brushed Arrows Brushes and Stamps No. 1, Flourished Clusters Brushes and Stamps No. 3, Stamped Blocks No. 31 Brushes and Stamps, Stripped Words and Phrases Brushes and Stamps No. 1.

Nontraditional Linda

I really think purple should be a standard Christmas color! It’s so regal, and especially paired with the green and gold that Linda used here and that decorated her Christmas packages this past year, it looks just beautiful! The supply list for Linda’s pretty page includes: Patchwork Layered Template No. 4, Anchors Away Solids Paper Pack, Polar Mountain Glitter Flakes, Alandia Meadow Solids Paper Pack, Classic Cardstock: Enticing, New Day Paper Pack, Spooktacular Add-On Paper Pack, Be Happy Paper Pack, Game Cards: Holiday, Holiday Postage Strips No. 1, Wooden Ornaments, Growing Flourishes Brushes and Stickers No. 2, Linen Buttons: Christmas, Vintage Christmas Element Pack, Astro Element Pack, l’Automne Element Pack, Drop Shadow Styles No. 2, Happy Christmas 12×12 Text Overlays, Betty Kit.

Nontraditional Terri

By moving toward a nontraditional shade of green and pairing it with neutral brown, Terri was able to design a page that both feels like a Christmas layout and works particularly well with the many photos she had of her boys enjoying the celebration and their gifts. To create her layout, Terri used Vinter Kit, Vinter Worn Paper Pack, and Photo Clusters No. 45.

I would love to see the non-traditionally colored Christmas pages you create with Designer Digitals supplies. Upload them to our Color Challenge Gallery to share the inspiration!
