One Theme, Three Scrappers: Celebrate!

Hi, it’s Debi (beehive50) here for this week’s “One Theme, Three Scrappers” challenge and it’s time to celebrate! Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and I know there will be plenty of red and pink in the galleries, but for today, let’s take a different approach… did you know that yesterday, February 12th, was “Fat Tuesday”? The start of Mardi Gras? Now, I realize that many of us have never been to Mardi Gras or Carnival, but I do know that we all have reasons to celebrate! Whether it’s Mardi Gras, a wedding, a birthday, baby’s first steps or a goal scored in an important game… it’s time for a celebration! Hope you join the party!

I found some fun items in the store in keeping with our theme (see them at the end of this post) and Kathleen, Sam and Amy L. from our Creative Team have put together some fabulous and inspirational layouts!

How cool that Amy and her family lived in Louisiana for a while and celebrated Mardi Gras! Even the schools got into the spirit and Amy enjoyed creating this layout of her #3 son (he’s in his 20s now!) dressed up for his classroom Mardi Gras party. I love how all the bright and colorful elements just add to the energy of the layout! I especially loved the subtle details she added, especially making one of the lantern brushes into a sticker (I *love* that technique!) and the addition of the fleur-de-lys on the tag was brilliant!

AMY’S SUPPLIES:  Katie Pertiet (Color My Love Kit, Color My Love Add-on Paper Pack, Color My Love: Paint, Color My Love: Journalers, Splatters Brushes and Stamps No. 03, Almost There Kit, Party Lantern Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Word Strip Labels No. 04, Made with Paper Flowers No. 03, Glittery Masks); Maplebrook Studios
(Just Linens Paper Pack No. 18, Glorious Days Kit); Studio DD (Readymade Banners: Rainbow No. 01); Pattie Knox (Pearl Christmas Wreaths and Bows); Ali Edwards (Remember This And That Element Collection)

Sam had the most wonderful reason to create a layout this month: She got married! On this joyous day, Sam and Ian invited family and friends to a ‘party’ to celebrate Sam’s 50th birthday… little did the guests know that it wasn’t a birthday party, but a wedding! Now, that, my friends, is one heckuva celebration! I love how Sam used a “diary” to tell the story of the day, from the busy morning preparations to dancing until the wee hours! The addition of simple, but fun elements to Sam’s graphic layout add just the right amount of pizazz!

SAM’S SUPPLIES: Katie Pertiet (Party Lantern Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Doodledo Words: Birthday No. 01 Brushes and Stamps, Color My Love Kit); Ali Edwards (You’re Invited Collection Brushes and Stamps, Day In The Life 6×12 Layered Template Set)

Doesn’t Kathleen’s layout just scream “FUN!”? The bright happy colors and all the fun elements create the perfectly happy “Happy Birthday!” page! I love how Kathleen showcased so many photos on her layout and how the ‘sunbursts’ and the twisted stitches and twisted dots lead us from the darling focal photos to the film strip of photographs from the party. The bold colors add an energetic feel to the layout, but the addition of the butterflies reminds us of her young daughter’s sweet innocence!

KATHLEEN’S SUPPLIES:  Katie Pertiet (Color My Love Complete Collection {Kit, Add On, Paint}, Classic Curled Photo Frames No. 05, Twisted Stitches No. 04, Banner Labels No. 01, Cardstock Tabs No. 03, Twisted Dots No. 01, Watery Chevrons No. 01, Striping Love Brushes and Stamps No. 01); Ali Edwards (You’re Invited Collection Brushes and Stamps, Essential Words Hand Drawn Value Pack Vol. 01); Studio DD (Layer Works No. 259 {paper masks, “docustack”, white stitching})

If you have a minute (more like hours!), peruse the store and you will find hundreds of products to celebrate and party! Here are a few to start you off… and remember: These will be ON SALE in the DD store this week, too!

Hope these prompt some inspiration! And, happy celebrations! I you will join us in this week’s challenge!

Please upload your pages to the “3 Scrappers” gallery so that we can all be inspired and thanks for joining in!
