How about another challenge to get your artistic juices flowing 🙂 As memory keepers we are usually trying to add as many photos of an event to a page as possible. Since this is the artsy challenge, I thought it would be fun to challenge you to use white space. Now we all know that white space doesn’t necessarily mean white background. It only refers to the open space you are leaving on your page, which can be really beautiful. Case in point are the following pages.
Jana, one of our talented guest CT members, created this gorgeous page
See how your eye goes from the top left to the bottom right? And all this wonderful open space for your eye to wander…
Here are the supplies she used: Katie Pertiet: December Woods, December Woods Add-On, December Woods PaintedCollages, Golden Essentials, Star Filled Confetti,
Foiled Twists, Merriment Brushes, Painted Photo Masks No.2, Edge Overlays No.6,
Nov. Mask Appeal freebie, Art Inspiration freebie, 3-2013,
Studio DD: December Days Borders
Lynn Grieveson: Hint At It Urban Brushes
Next is Kelly (mugsbigsis)
I love all the beautiful brushwork. She aligned her design toward the left and left all that gorgeous space to the right open. It is so restful! I love how the scribbles extend partially into the open space. Wonderfully done!
Here is what she used:
K. Pertiet: Collageable clusters #1, Tailed Frames #1, Arlesey Artsy Paint, Scribbling Brushes and Stamps #4, Gesso #1 Brushes and Stamps, Blendable Mi #1, Cooked Solids PP, Vintage Edge Overlays (coming soon)
L. Grieveson: Worn Tops DIY, Miss Millie Kit
Last there is my page. I was fiddling with some camera settings the other day and shot this picture of myself, trying to imitate the kids on Facebook 🙂
I aligned my focal section to the right and just gave the eye something to move to on the opposite side. Here are the supplies I used: K. Pertiet: evergreens kit, evergreens solids,
Inked twists #2, gold essentials, paint it gold, vintage edge overlays #1 (all these coming soon) plus: artsy paint #1, text cluster freebie, star glows #1
L. Grieveson: Candy Christmas kit (coming soon), ripped and stitched DIY.I hope you will find some inspiration in these pages and give the white space a try. Katie created another cute freebie for us to use, you can grab it here
