ARTjournal challenge: Fill In The Blanks

November’s ARTjournal challenge starts with this unique template that Katie designed for us.

The pick-up link is here.

Fill in all of the blanks, most of the blanks, or just some of the blanks. Remove them, rotate them, or maybe even flip all or just some of of them. A nice feature of this template is how customizable it is, as shown by our creative team examples.

Mollie’s vintage page (with a modern twist) is a nice example of how you might edit the template to include some white space and texture. Notice how she edited the template even further by using part of the pattern at the top border for added interest. What a great idea.

Including the template, Mollie used these products: Classic Curled Photo Frames No. 01, Iconic Spots Brushes and Stamps No. 02: Traveler, Simple Classics: Traveler Element Pack, Textured Cardstock: Candies Paper Pack, Textured Cardstock: Golden Rose Paper Pack, and Textured Cardstock: Neutra Paper Pack

Debi is one of our masters at storytelling, but since one picture is worth a thousand words, whether you read her journaling or not, you get the picture. (pun intended) Debi edited the template to suit her taste by eliminating some of the shapes and shrinking down the template for added white space. Additionally, she framed the two larger triangles in white to compliment the sticker styled word-art.

Products used for this page include the template freebie, Not Your Average Day Brushes and Stamps which she turned into a sticker, Flair Minis No. 01, Belina Solids Paper Pack, Kitlet Scrapbooking Mini-Kit No. 03, Watery Scribbles Brushes and Stamps No. 04, and coming very soon, Miriam Solid Papers.

My approach with this template, was to see what it would look like filled to the brim with a mostly vintage flair. I had been giving some thought to how much our lives have changed since the invention of such things as the personal computer and smart phone. Yes, some of us did indeed watch black and white TV and our phone was tethered to a land line. (not to mention that in the beginning, our phone was on a 2 party line which meant two families actually had to share one line) Oh how times have changed!
