When the calendar says it’s April, we can expect April showers! Today, I’d like to challenge you to use this image of April showers to inspire your scrapbooking.
Although ‘showers’ could bring to mind dreary hues, this photograph is anything but dreary! The bold pink umbrellas against the bright blue sky are a striking and cheerful combination. Three of our creative team members were inspired to create layouts drawing from this color inspiration.
Georgina softened the pinks and blues for her dreamy page that even features an umbrella in dear Evie’s hands. Her supply list includes: Clean Stitched Banners: White No. 1, Roughed up Pocket Cards: Striped No. 2, DocuStacks No. 2, Stitched Notecards, Maybe Tomorrow Element Pack, Wood Veneer Talk Bubbles No. 1, Wooden Arrows No. 1, Bursting Words Brushes and Stamps No. 2, Clean Stitched Hearts: White No. 1, Scratchy Page Titles Brushes and Stamps, Banner Labels No. 2, Plastic Alphabet: Navy Blue No. 1, Stitched Word Labels No. 2, Recorded Brushes and Stamps No. 2, Watery Spots Brushes and Stamps No. 7, Eastbourne Kit, Wild Island Kit, February Kit.
Janet’s signature bold style is perfect for this color scheme. And although this is indeed a color challenge, I can’t resist mentioning how I am always so inspired by her journaling ideas and the way that her journaling helps her really capture the lives of her teens. This page is no exception! To create it, Janet used Simple Patterns No. 2 Paper Pack, Frais Paper Pack, Journal Strips No. 1, Messy Stamped Alphabet No. 5, Hey There Element Pack, Geo Brush Set, Banner Labels No. 2, Be Loved Mini Kit, Clean Stitched Banners: Charcoal No. 2, Clean Stitched Banners: White No. 2, Crowning Affair: Understated Kit, Pink Florale Paper Pack, Photo Clusters No. 32, Banner Safety Tags No. 1, Messy Stamped Numbers and Extras Brushes and Stamps, Spot Dots Colors Turquoise, Made with Paper Flowers No. 1, Assorted Messy Stitches: Pink No. 1, Ho Ho Holiday Words and Phrases Brushes and Stamps, Mixed Stamped Alphabet.
Like Georgina, Mollie found inspiration in both the theme and the colors of our April Showers photo. She was able to use this as a jumping off point to record a long ago memory that is dear to her heart. That’s what I love about scrapping and about the variety of challenges we feature at DD! Mollie’s supplies for her page included Artsy Paint No. 1, Bread and Butter Elements: Oval Journal Tags, Classic Curled Photo Frames No. 1, Clustered Layered Template No. 6, Forecast Kit, Love This Word Art Brushes and Stamps No. 1, Seaside Patterns Paper Pack, Simple Patterns No. 1 Paper Pack, Tiny Dots No. 1 Paper Pack, Toothy Seaside No. 1 Paper Pack.
My challenge to you is to design your own April Showers inspired layout. Use DD supplies and post it in the Color Challenge Gallery. I am looking forward to seeing where your creativity takes you!
